Bangkok villas and serviced apartments are situated throughout the modern Asian metropolis. Bangkok is located on the banks of the Chao Phraya River, and is the current capital city of Thailand. Bangkok villas cater for all tastes.
The population is diversely international. Bangkok is the gateway to Asia for foreign interests seeking new markets and is a major economic and financial center. Bangkok has one of the fastest rates in the world for construction of high rise buildings. The city's nightlife makes in famous, and infamous, around the world.
Bangkok began as a small trading center serving the Ayutthaya Kingdom, the precedent of modern Thailand which reigned from 1350 to 1767. The area's landscape was carved by rivers and canals.
When Ayutthaya fell to Burma in 1767, King Taksin established a new capital in the area of then-Bangkok, which became known as Thonburi. In 1782, King Buddha Yodfa Chulaloke reconstructed the capital on the east bank of the river. The city has modernized quickly and has experienced changes such as the introduction of transportation and utility infrastructure in the reigns of King Mongkut and King Chulalongkorn, fast becoming the economic center of Thailand.
The Bangkok administrative area covers 1,568.7 kmē, making it the 68th largest province in Thailand. Bangkok is one of the largest cities in the world. The Chao Phraya River is Thailand's longest river and stretches 372 km. Bangkok's is known as the "Venice of the East" due to the number of canals and passages that divide the area into separate patches of land. The city once used these canals as divisions for city districts. In the 20th century, a new system of division was adopted.
The city is rumored to be sinking an average of two inches a year as it lies entirely on a swamp. Some reactionary reports say that the city is sinking as much as four inches a year, and this combined with the rising sea level will leave Bangkok under 50 cm to 100 cm of water by 2025.
Bangkok has a tropical monsoon climate and the highest average temperature of any city in the world. The coldest daytime maximum temperature was 22.3C recorded in December 1999.
Bangkok has 50 districts. Bangkok has grown from a city scattered along the river to a metro area that spans six provinces. The city's main business districts and residential areas are continuously expanding. The influx of foreigners from Western countries as well as immigrants from neighboring Laos, Myanmar, Cambodia and many other South Asian countries along with the growth of the Thai population has created hundreds of housing projects around the metro area, developing communities along the outskirts. Within years, these communities are engulfed by the greater Bangkok and become another part of this urban jungle.
The most important business districts of Bangkok include Silom, Bangrak, Pinklao, Sathon, Phra Ram 2, Petchaburi, Phra Nakhon, and Pathumwan. The city has a registered 1,000 skyscrapers and ranks 17th as the world's tallest city.
Bangkok's Phra Nakhon district alongside Dusit is where most governmental agencies and ministries have their offices. Well-known tourist attractions are also in this particular area. Attractions include the Grand Palace, Democracy Monument, Giant Swing and Sanam Luang. Thon Buri has historic monuments near the river, such as Wat Arun. The Victory Monument in Bangkok is one of the city's biggest bus destinations. Its location in the centre of city transits as many as 20 bus lines as well as a BTS Skytrain station. Bangkok villas are well connected into this network
Suvarnabhumi Airport in the east is seen as a jump start for the eastern expansion of Bangkok as Don Muang was for the north. Ratchaprasong is at the fore front of Bangkok's shopping scene. The newly renovated Central World Plaza intends to serve as a social square
Bangkok has large sections of greenery either preserved by the Department of National Forestry or designated as green zones. There has recently been a strong voice towards preserving the environment containing population within the city but Bangkok continues to lack a green belt development as economic activity continues to pour into the capital, resulting in massive housing projects along the suburbs.
Lumphini Park is renowned as Bangkok's Central Park, and was built in the early 1900s by Rama VI with this intent and was a camp for Japanese soldiers during World War II during the most recent occupation of Thailand by foreign powers.
Bangkok villas are predominant in the more verdant areas of the city or near the river.
These are as diverse as the city itself, covering all areas and meeting all purposes, an excellent base from which to explore the city. This is a major and busting city, and yet there are some places where you can block out the noise and relax in luxury away from the main roads. The prices are excellent compared to similar properties in other cities.
